On the Saturday before Lent, March 2, there will be a half-day retreat at Rockhurst High School for women. If you are somebody’s mother, daughter, sister, or wife, irrespective of religious background, you are invited to join in. I will team up with Rockhurst president, David Laughlin, to share presenter duties.
The doors will open at 8:30 for early registration and the retreat will officially begin with Mass at 9:00. Parking will be provided in the north lot where you may enter into Barry Commons. A light breakfast/brunch will be offered throughout the morning, provided by Joe Tulipana and Kemer Quirk of Blind Box. Devotional prayer, like Benediction and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, will be offered; popular spiritual method and prayer form, like Ignatian Spirituality, will be introduced; quiet time and small group interaction opportunities will be included. The mini-retreat will conclude at noon.
You can get more information or register on-line at https://www.rockhursths.edu/womens-retreat. If you have questions, feel free to contact Jennifer Harris at jharris@stcharleskc.com. Meanwhile, here is some general information: the theme of the Women’s Retreat is Grow. The purpose of the gathering is to grow in faith by taking one step closer to the Lord and using it as a stepping stone to the upcoming Lenten Season. It is our hope that in these hours together you meet other women who are passionate about their faith, encourage one another in spiritual pursuits, elevate interactions and conversations about mysteries of life and God, become more Christ-centered, and discover spiritual companions who can walk with you along the journey.
Though there is no charge for the event, you are welcome to make a contribution or provide sponsorship for the food served and supplies distributed; any additional funds received will go toward the good works of the Rockhurst Parent Club, of which the Spirituality Committee is part. I hope that you can join us.
